TILT-VA

Transparency in Learning & Teaching (TILT) is a teaching methodology that focuses on transparent assignment design. I’m co-coordinating the TILT-VA research team activities, an initiative supported by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) and the Virginia Educational Developers Collaborative. VIVA Course redesign grants

I am leading two Virginia Academic Library Consortium (VIVA) Course Redesign Grants. The goal of the VIVA Course Redesign Grant program is: “to make textbook and course materials free to students by empowering faculty with the resources and time they need to redesign their curricula using open, library, or no-cost resources.” The projects will adapt currently available pre-college and college composition materials, and create new materials as needed, for non-native English-speaking students. Learn more about the VIVA OER course redesign project here.

Instructor Feedback Practices

I am participating in a two-year research seminar, Re(Examining) Conditions for Meaningful Learning Experiences, based at Elon University’s Center for Engaged Learning. The seminar brings together scholar-practitioners in higher education to work in cohorts on multi-institutional research projects exploring high-impact educational practices. My team’s specific research focus is looking at how feedback instructors provide students impacts student success and persistence. We are in the process of launching a Faculty Feedback Practices survey.
